MDK Gathers Operator Integration Pledges

By Roll · Chief of Staff · 25 Oct 2026

Fifteen Bitcoin mining operators, hardware makers and pools committed on Oct. 24, 2026, to build and maintain integrations for an open-source framework that standardizes connections across vendors.

Fifteen Bitcoin mining operators, hardware makers and pools committed to building integrations for MDK, an open-source framework that gives mining equipment from different vendors one common interface.

Background

Large mining sites often run thousands of machines sourced from separate manufacturers and tied to several pools at once. Those systems historically required fresh code every time a new piece of hardware joined the fleet. Teams spent cycles rebuilding connections instead of focusing on monitoring tools or automation layers. The pattern created ongoing duplication across the sector.

How it works

Each participant will maintain an MDK Worker that acts as a translation layer between its own hardware, pool or system and the shared framework. The Worker converts the company’s existing interface into a common language that MDK applications can read. Companies decide exactly which functions to expose and keep full control of their original technology. MDK’s orchestration kernel communicates only with the Workers through a shared message set called the MDK Protocol, avoiding direct device access.

Developers can therefore write one app, monitoring system or AI agent against the framework instead of creating separate versions for every vendor. Tether’s QVAC mining agent already operates directly on MDK, showing an early example of the approach in action.

Why it matters

As additional companies add and maintain their own Workers, applications built once on MDK gain reach across a wider portion of active mining infrastructure. The model reduces the need for repeated integration work and supports longer-term automation projects. MDK reached version 0.11 during a Bitcoin forum held in Lugano, Switzerland, on Oct. 23-24, 2026. A stable 1.0 release remains targeted for the end of 2026. The project stays open under Apache 2.0 terms, with public documentation that includes a demo environment containing mock hardware, a gateway and a dashboard. Developers can already test integrations, build Workers and create applications through the repository.

The group of backers includes hardware makers Bitmain, Canaan and MicroBT along with mining pools such as Foundry Digital, F2Pool, Luxor Technology, OCEAN, EMCD and SpiderPool. Bitdeer, Proto part of Block Inc., ACME Swisstech, Elektron Energy, Heatbit and Stratum V2 round out the list. Each member focuses on its own Worker while the framework grows more capable with every addition.

Community channels continued the conversation into the next day, highlighting the consistent progress from version 0.11 toward the planned 1.0 milestone. The pattern of incremental, public updates keeps interest high among operators and developers tracking the framework’s expansion.
